<info@gmtfutures.com>That seems to be a question traders ask when they start trading in the markets! Simple answer is there are more brokers who are making money in a full time capacity than there are full time traders making money. This is simply because they have an edge on us "traders" in most aspects of trading in all shapes and forms which in most cases includes a prior education in the industry. I have many healthy business relationships with brokers and they are just like us, enjoying their profession and making the most out of every opportunity that presents itself.
I know what you're thinking, why not just be a broker? I asked the same question about 10 years ago. Simple question and simple answer is that if you trade with a great system, trade plan and have the appropriate education you can make more money than a broker on average and have a more tailored lifestyle that suits what you want. I found that most new traders are choosing trading in most circumstance because it is the lifestyle that is the main advantage and attraction. You trade when you want and you make as much as you want when you want generally.
Remember that most traders dive in head first without education and don't have access to the information you are getting now. So you are on your way to being in that 10% of traders who do make it and outlast the brokers in the long run! You also have that opportunity to have the lifestyle that you want, remember why you chose to take up trading full time in the first place? It is usually for the lifestyle above anything else.
You have to use a broker to put your trades on and someone will be taking the commission. We have ways of getting that cost to trade down to a bare minimum which is where we help reduce the cost of trading. This is very helpful as a year's worth of trading commission at a low rate is a massive saving on costs. I'm glad I am a trader though as in this game the broker is like the referee and players don't like the referee!!!!
